Troi Torain is a media personality that has both thrilled and offended audiences for years. The former Power 105 radio host has built a fervent following for his no-holds-barred style. He combines double talk, bait and feed techniques and playful jousting to make his point of view heard by millions. This is what allows him to be the reigning man of thought across the urban media landscape.
The STAR Report
When it comes to pop culture and the latest in hip hop, he’s usually on top of it. Whether berating Beyonce for her overexposure or praising her by saying she should replace Aunt Jemima on the box of pancake mix, Troi Torain opines on all aspects of hip hop with equal snark and wit. He’s also no stranger to the twists and turns of celebrity life. He’s addressed the sex scandals of countless rappers, and he’s even weighed in on the Tory Lanez/Megan Thee Stallion quagmire.
Recently he’s weighed in on the Jay Z age controversy by claiming that the rapper is actually 50 years old and not 44 like everyone thinks. Torain is known for his snarky commentary but this seems to be something that went too far. He also claimed that he and Jay Z are “age mates” but didn’t elaborate on how he knew this.
In other news, Torain has been co-hosting Complex’s Everyday Struggle series. But he recently announced on his YouTube channel that he would be leaving the show. He wouldn’t go into detail on why he left, but said that he did it with no malice and that he just wanted a release from his contract. Torain also refused to share any emails that he and Complex’s lawyers shared.
He also wouldn’t say if he would ever return to the show but assured that he isn’t quitting radio in general. He also said that he’s happy to see that the black community is finally making their voice heard in the mainstream. He also mentioned that he’s starting his own morning show on new radio station Pulse 87 on Monday. You can check out his announcement video below. troi torain
