Best Whipped Soap is soap and body wash’s opulent love child, with its buttery soft texture and rich lather it gives your skin a spa-like experience. Add in your favourite essential oils and colourants for a truly unique bath time treat.
Adding humectants and stable fatty acids to your soap base helps it retain its fluffy, whipped texture. This can be especially important when working with milks and fragrance oils that often accelerate trace (and even turn your soap brown).
In this recipe, we’ve added both vegetable glycerin and fractionated coconut oil to our whipped soap base. This not only keeps the base from drying out but it also acts as a humectant, drawing moisture to itself from your skin, which helps your soap stay in a fluffy whipped state for longer.
Once your soap base has cooled to room temperature and sat for a while, use an immersion blender or mix in a stand mixer with a whisk to get it to a light and fluffy consistency, like whipped cream. This will take a few minutes at least.
Next, weigh out 0.8 oz (22.5 g) of Violet soap dye and add it to your mixture. Beat the soap base for 3-7 minutes until it turns a pretty pastel violet shade, or as dark as you prefer. Then, slowly add in your fragrance oil and 0.5 oz (13.5 g) of argan oil (or another moisturizing carrier oil such as shea or almond). Finally, add your preservative and stir to combine.
