Collecting sports autographs through the mail is a great hobby. It will provide you with personal satisfaction and lots of fun. My goal in this article is to teach you how to fill your mailbox with autographs of your favorite athletes and make you a very successful collector.
Where To Find Addresses
1. The first step in collecting sports autographs by mail is finding addresses to write to the athletes. I myself have hundreds of autographs and I started by writing to the players team addresses. Most athletes will sign, so there is no sense in writing to their home and taking a chance on turning them off on signing. You can get the team addresses off of the main sports sites such as the mlb.com, nfl.com or nba.com.
What To Say To The Athlete
2. When you write to an athlete to request an autograph always be polite and always thank them for their time. Most athletes are busy people especially during their playing season. Keep your letter brief, and make sure you spell their name correctly. In your letter you should mention something about the players career; Maybe something you remember or admired about them. The more personal the better. This shows interest and will increase your chance for a response. Then politely ask if they would sign the cards you have sent and thank them again for their time. I also write a P.S. saying I have enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for their convenience.
What Do You Send To Be Autographed
3. I try not to send anything that is too valuable. Regular trading cards seem to be the easiest item to send. You can also send blank index cards just make sure that on one side of the index card you write the date and the player. Sometimes signatures are hard to read, this way you will be sure whose signature you have. I recommended sending no more than two cards at a time.
How To Address The Envelopes
4. The envelopes are very critical to getting a response from the athlete. The first envelope will be sent to the athlete it should be a larger #10 envelope. The front of the envelope should be filled out.
Player Name
Team Address
City, State, Zip Code
The second envelope which will be placed inside of the larger #10 envelope, is the one the athlete will be sending back to you with your autographs inside. The front of this envelope should be addressed with your name and address both in the return and mailing address positions. 무료스포츠티비
